How we work
We consider it desirable to manage deer numbers for several reasons:
- Damage to crops, trees, gardens and woodland habitats is reduced.
- Reduced-density populations of deer are generally healthier and more productive.
- Reduce deer related traffic accidents (approximately 74000 per year)
- Venison provides a high-quality game meat.
- Useful income for landowners can be derived from stalking and venison sales.
Initially we would visit the property, we would then assess any risks, as well as determining the species, approximate number present and what damage is being caused.
We would use this information to decide on the best method of deer management, which could be high seats, deer blinds, stalking, or a mixture of these methods. We would then generate a deer management plan.
Visiting the area on a regular basis, we would selectively cull all necessary animals, in-line with our plan.
HCS Deer Services is committed to the humane and effective management of deer, with the emphasis being on safety at all times.
Management is carried out in full accordance with the wishes of landowners to achieve the desired results, whilst complying with all legal requirements and relevant legislation.
Deer censuses are carried out annually and management plans rewritten accordingly.
